Goals - why, how & when to set them

New Years resolutions are such a ridiculed thing these days. No one actually takes them seriously and even if so, no one ever holds onto them and makes them come true.
Now, I just wanna clarify, I did not realize the importance of setting and following goals until probably this year. Yet, this is an opportunity for both you and me to take on this journey together. So, common, follow me!

THE HARSH REALITY IS …. TOO MUCH TIME HAS PASSED, AND THE WHAT EVER OF DREAMS MEANS NOTHING ANY MORE! MORE LIKE, TIME IS UP! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER ANY MORE!First off, the basics.

  1. Goals do not have to be set at New Year's. You can set them whenever you like, if it's January 15th or October 27th. -And that's important to realize. Changes can be made at any time a year and even if you set your resolutions at the beginning of the year and didn't follow them up until now (as of mid/end October), doesn't mean you cannot still find start! You can begin drinking enough water on the very day you're reading this article. -Speaking of...
  2. ...Your goals can (and should) consist of much greater aims than drinking water or going to the gym.
  3. Set one main life goal (e.g.: having a family and a big house, etc.) and set steps leading toward that (e.g.: making a lot of money -> requires: having a great job -> requires: successfully graduating Uni -> requires: studying loads; etc...)

Apart from transitioning from High School to Uni and many other big changes that have happened in 2018, (or maybe just through those changes) I have learned a f*ing lot about myself this year. Including discovering that manifestation (LAW of attraction -see what I did there?) does actually work and it is not just for hippy girls or vegan yoga gurus (no offense, I am vegan myself). It is not hard, either. It is not an art, nothing scary. If anything, it's a form of magic that you don't need a wand or position for.

Set some goals. Stay quiet about them. Smash the shit out of them. Clap for your own damn self. Or maybe you do need a potion, consisting of hope and trust. When aiming toward something, you need to know exactly what that is, though. This is why the very first ingridient is a vision. A vision of what you want to achieve, the overall end goal, the ultimate, the supreme. That's the final product of the potion you are going to create. Let's say my goal is to take a leading position in the United Nations (hint: please offer me an internship, ok?). In order to achieve that, I've got to gradually take baby steps (add one ingredient after the other) in the right direction. Like studying my a** off to slay those end of the semester exams. Of course, simply working hard is not the answer here. Listen closely, sister. You have got to BELIEVE in what you want. You've got to EXPECT that what you want is 100% going to happen. Like there's not even an option. This is your fate and that's why this is going to be your life. You own this. Try to view it like this; you already know what the future is going to hold for you and therefor, you don't even need to worry about it. Using the example with the UN, this just makes it so much easier to imagine that, while you're studying for school, you're actually already working for them and everything you do is extremely important in order to defend human rights.
VoilĂ : motivation right there.
So, now you've got the vision mixed with small baby-steps-goals, hard work, a whole bunch of believe and -most importantly- trust. This is the secret position to success.
